WEBVTT
00:00:04.080 --> 00:00:06.559
Welcome to the Heart of Show Business.
00:00:06.719 --> 00:00:09.119
I am your host, Alexia Melocchi.
00:00:09.599 --> 00:00:20.480
I believe in great storytelling and that every successful artist has a deep desire to express something from the heart to create a ripple effect in our society.
00:00:20.879 --> 00:00:23.920
Emotion and entertainment are closely tied together.
00:00:24.239 --> 00:00:31.600
My guests and I want to give you insider access to how the film, television, and music industry works.
00:00:31.839 --> 00:00:38.799
We will cover dreams come true, the roadlife travel, journey beginnings, and a lot of insight and inspiration in between.
00:00:39.039 --> 00:00:46.960
I am a successful film and television entrepreneur who came to America as a teenager to pursue my show business dreams.
00:00:47.119 --> 00:00:53.359
Are you ready for some unfiltered real talk with entertainment visionaries from all over the world?
00:00:53.520 --> 00:00:56.640
Then let's roll sound and action.
00:01:01.679 --> 00:01:04.000
Hello, hello everyone.
00:01:04.640 --> 00:01:14.079
I have not recorded a solo episode in quite some time as I come to think about it.
00:01:14.480 --> 00:01:22.799
So it's very apropos that I will be recording a solo episode to end season seven.
00:01:22.959 --> 00:01:24.079
I can't believe it.
00:01:24.239 --> 00:01:33.920
I am about 118 episodes in on this podcast that I started, as you all know, back in 2020 during the pandemic.
00:01:34.079 --> 00:01:45.599
I felt the urge and the need to bring on thought leaders and artists and luminars, luminaries to discuss journeys and discuss mindset tips.
00:01:45.760 --> 00:01:52.239
You know, for me, it's all about the convergence between business creativity and mindset.
00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:54.159
Uh, this is how I live my life.
00:01:54.319 --> 00:01:55.120
This is how I feel.
00:01:55.280 --> 00:02:05.040
Many successful people, or many people who are actually realizing their dreams, are um going with this convergence in their life.
00:02:05.280 --> 00:02:22.000
So I wanted to do a little summary of some life rules that feel they still hold true today, this year, especially at the end of 2025, as we're about to enter in 2026.
00:02:22.159 --> 00:02:23.439
I was thinking, what can I say?
00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:25.680
What kind of life lessons can I impart?
00:02:25.919 --> 00:02:50.560
How can I share my journey without really going into too many details, but somehow feel that I could share something that you could use as a takeaway or as a trigger for your own self-reflection and into accomplishing whatever it is you set out to accomplish in this beautiful life of ours.
00:02:50.800 --> 00:02:53.599
And uh therefore I came up with some rules.
00:02:53.680 --> 00:02:59.120
At the beginning, they were about 11, and uh and then I narrowed it down.
00:02:59.280 --> 00:03:06.800
So I don't know how many they are by now, but I'm just gonna speak them into this podcast and we'll see how it goes.
00:03:06.960 --> 00:03:08.719
Uh I feel they still hold.
00:03:08.800 --> 00:03:19.120
I've used them many times or reminded myself of them many times in my life as I go through many, many pivots in business, in personal choices.
00:03:19.439 --> 00:03:33.199
But somehow, because this is the final solo episode of the season and it comes from a year lived at full speed, you know, markets, building a publishing company, Little Studio Films Publishing, which I'm very proud of.
00:03:33.439 --> 00:03:47.360
Uh, releasing my second book, The Heart of Show Business, Your Roadmap to Hollywood, releasing my mother's book, who, as you know, is my business partner, and she just uh became a novelist at the tender age of 80.
00:03:47.439 --> 00:04:04.159
It's called Machiavelli Princess, if you want to check it out, but also just converting the stories of so many of my clients who had movie scripts, TV shows, and turning them into books and just using the publishing as yet another way of championing storytellers.
00:04:04.319 --> 00:04:05.120
So that was that.
00:04:05.199 --> 00:04:17.199
And there was the producing of this podcast and some wonderful guests that I had this season and showing up for my clients and the consulting business and the storytellers and the brands that I genuinely care about.
00:04:17.519 --> 00:04:24.240
But somewhere in that momentum, I really brushed up against burnout, especially in the last couple of months.
00:04:24.399 --> 00:04:39.519
It felt so obvious to me that I had to quietly ask myself to slow down and reevaluate not just my business, but my relationship with time and energy and alignment.
00:04:39.839 --> 00:04:45.839
So, what I'm sharing today is really not advice, it's not me getting on my soapbox and preaching.
00:04:45.920 --> 00:04:52.480
You know, I don't like to do that, but it's just my own reflections uh about the lessons that have stayed.
00:04:52.720 --> 00:04:56.879
Some of them I knew all along, others I actually had to relearn.
00:04:57.199 --> 00:05:01.680
And they ultimately are pointing me out towards what comes next.
00:05:01.839 --> 00:05:05.519
And I'm very excited about what is coming next in 2026.
00:05:05.759 --> 00:05:08.399
It's gonna be risky, it's gonna be daring.
00:05:08.560 --> 00:05:17.439
I'm probably gonna be a little scared to do what I'm gonna be doing, and I can't wait for you to share the journey ahead, which I'm not gonna tell you about just yet.
00:05:17.920 --> 00:05:31.680
But I feel that those rules are helping me ground myself and they're helping me believe in what it is I set out to accomplish.
00:05:32.560 --> 00:05:37.680
The first rule is don't help people who don't help you.
00:05:38.560 --> 00:05:42.959
I have learned that everything in the world is energy exchange.
00:05:43.600 --> 00:05:51.120
When energy flows only one way, it does throw you out of balance, it does train you.
00:05:51.680 --> 00:06:00.160
And when I talk about don't help people who don't help you, I'm not talking just about money or transactions.
00:06:00.399 --> 00:06:02.800
That is not tied to money or transactions.
00:06:02.959 --> 00:06:08.560
Some of the most meaningful exchanges that I have had are much simpler than that.
00:06:08.800 --> 00:06:28.639
They could be a referral, they could be a thoughtful introduction, they could be helping someone, whether it's myself or me helping another out of smooth to smooth out the overwhelm, editing videos, you know, brainstorming for clarity, uh, sharing your someone's success with your network.
00:06:29.439 --> 00:06:35.120
Those simple but little gestures can mean a lot more than any deal ever signed.
00:06:35.279 --> 00:06:39.120
So when that exchange is mutual, it does build trust.
00:06:39.360 --> 00:06:42.399
But when it's not, it quietly depletes you.
00:06:42.560 --> 00:06:47.279
And I found myself experiencing a lot of that.
00:06:47.600 --> 00:06:58.879
Uh, you know me, I will help anything and anyone that needs help, whether it's animals, children, storytellers, I'm always there offering my hand.
00:06:59.360 --> 00:07:04.560
But sometimes I have to remind myself that help should feel energizing, not exhausting.
00:07:04.720 --> 00:07:10.959
And sometimes too much is just too much, especially when it's going out of balance.
00:07:12.000 --> 00:07:19.680
The other rule, and that's something that Oprah said, and I don't think she's the first one who said it, but I remember her saying it.
00:07:19.839 --> 00:07:25.680
And maybe it was Maya Angelo who said that as well before her, which is believe them the first time.
00:07:26.639 --> 00:07:28.319
This has to do with people.
00:07:28.800 --> 00:07:39.040
It really has to do with the choices that you make about the statements that people make about themselves or what they're doing to you.
00:07:39.759 --> 00:07:49.600
And this year, you reminded me how important it is to listen, not to just what people say, but to what they show us.
00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:52.240
People give us clues all the time.
00:07:52.720 --> 00:08:02.399
If someone tells you that they're not looking for something, believe them instead of spinning your wheels, trying to convince them otherwise.
00:08:02.639 --> 00:08:10.480
If someone is unkind, don't rush to justify that by saying, oh, they're just having a bad day.
00:08:10.800 --> 00:08:19.040
If someone repeatedly is forgetting information that you are offering to them, it means they really are not on top of mind for them.
00:08:19.519 --> 00:08:24.480
And none of this is meant to be negative or a judgment.
00:08:24.639 --> 00:08:32.000
It's just simply information that I feel it's important that we need to believe the first time.
00:08:32.480 --> 00:08:41.679
People may shed their patterns, but their core characters or core character, singular, does stay the same.
00:08:42.000 --> 00:08:57.279
So clarity is in all those believing the people and why believing in them or in what they do or what they say is really a kindness to yourself.
00:08:58.000 --> 00:09:10.720
Another rule that I felt very, very strongly as we're navigating crazy times in politics and society in our business is that today does not define tomorrow.
00:09:10.960 --> 00:09:22.559
There's so much going on, there's so much upheaval, so much chaos, so much speed with technology, AI, so many voices.
00:09:22.720 --> 00:09:29.440
You really do not know who to listen to and who not to listen to, what to do, what not to do, what is right, what is not right.
00:09:29.600 --> 00:09:34.879
And one of the most grinding realizations for me was remembering that everything has a beginning and an end.
00:09:35.200 --> 00:09:45.200
Even today, the end of a day can feel like the end of the world, but it's really the beginning of something else.
00:09:45.840 --> 00:09:56.639
Because that beginning can feel overwhelming sometimes, but listen, neither lasts forever, neither the beginning or the ending.
00:09:56.960 --> 00:10:06.639
When I started trusting time as a cyclical rather than linear, a lot of the unnecessary stress fell away.
00:10:06.879 --> 00:10:16.000
The endless looping in our minds sometimes feel real, actually, most of the time feels real, but it's usually just perception.
00:10:16.240 --> 00:10:20.639
Every situation, every emotion, every season is temporary.
00:10:21.519 --> 00:10:36.320
When I stopped fighting that and so much that came with it, and I started writing all the endings, all the beginnings like a wave, everything softened for me.
00:10:37.360 --> 00:10:43.279
Everything because nothing is permanent, not even in this moment.
00:10:45.679 --> 00:10:51.440
The other rule that was really important was everything grows in a niche.
00:10:51.759 --> 00:11:20.639
We are trying so hard to please everyone, we are trying so hard to write through ChatGPT NAI messaging that is gonna hit every single demographic, every single thing, because we want to get everyone's approval, we want to be liked by everyone, we want to find opportunities wherever they are, but we're not meant to please everyone, not in business, not in life.
00:11:21.120 --> 00:11:29.600
Growth does not happen in broad, undefined spaces, it does happen in containers and in niches.
00:11:30.960 --> 00:11:48.480
When you know where your audience is and what satisfies them and what values and standards matter to them, the smartest move you've ever made is to go into the niche, into the container.
00:11:48.639 --> 00:11:56.879
The smartest move for me that I've made were never about reaching more people, they were about reaching the right people.
00:11:57.840 --> 00:12:10.080
When you define your niche before rolling out any project, any venture, any alliance, any social circle, you will gain focus.
00:12:10.159 --> 00:12:14.399
And that focus does not limit your expansion, it creates it.
00:12:15.600 --> 00:12:21.279
It is in the depth that we get momentum long before we scale.
00:12:22.559 --> 00:12:26.639
Another one that is a rule that well, Tony Robbins.
00:12:26.720 --> 00:12:34.399
I credit Tony Robbins to that because he always said that, and I believed it, but I needed to embody it this year.
00:12:34.639 --> 00:12:37.360
Your vibe attracts your tribe.
00:12:38.000 --> 00:12:39.600
What does that mean?
00:12:40.720 --> 00:13:06.159
It means that the quality of your relationships matters far more than the quantity who you allow in the room with you, who you share your journey with, who has access to your time, your network, your kindness, your love, your vision, your imagination, all of that shapes your energy and your outcomes.
00:13:06.320 --> 00:13:22.240
I had to learn to look for clues in how people show up, how they listen, how they respect their boundaries, whether there's generosity or gratitude or even construct extraction and energy depletion.
00:13:22.559 --> 00:13:27.759
I had to learn how I feel after that meeting, after that encounter.
00:13:28.080 --> 00:13:34.240
And learning all of that was not just about cutting people off, really.
00:13:34.399 --> 00:13:43.039
It was about distancing myself and protecting my sanity and giving attention to what truly matters as I plan the year ahead.
00:13:43.360 --> 00:13:51.200
So I do suggest that you do a little soul searching about the people you surround yourself with.
00:13:51.360 --> 00:13:56.799
I mean, they do say that your life reflects the five people that you spend the most of your time with.
00:13:57.120 --> 00:13:58.879
Think about that for a second.
00:13:59.200 --> 00:14:07.120
Not everyone is meant to walk every chapter with you, and that's okay, but to look at the five people you spend most of your time with.
00:14:07.519 --> 00:14:09.120
And what do they say?
00:14:09.600 --> 00:14:10.720
What do they do?
00:14:10.879 --> 00:14:13.919
How does that affect you and your energy?
00:14:15.600 --> 00:14:34.879
Which brings me to another rule, which is so important for someone like me that is constantly on the move and is constantly thinking, I have to do something all the time, even when I think I'm meditating, I'm actually not, because my mind keeps looping and going.
00:14:35.120 --> 00:14:41.120
That's that's something that I pride myself on because I do have a lot of innovation embedded in me.
00:14:41.200 --> 00:14:53.840
I like to innovate, I like to fantasize, I like to think about possibilities, but I've even learned that slowing down is one of the most important lessons I had to do this year and to learn that.
00:14:54.000 --> 00:15:00.399
And by doing that, was just being in silence and sometimes even distancing myself.
00:15:00.639 --> 00:15:13.360
I did not have to go into ohm mantras, yogas, you know, hugging trees, you know, doing specific things, although I do like those things as well.
00:15:13.600 --> 00:15:33.200
But for me, it was just stop and slowing down and get awareness of my body, of my heart beating, of my breath, and just observing my thoughts and what and I will see that what is essential rises to the surface, and what isn't quietly starts falling away.
00:15:34.159 --> 00:15:35.120
It's true.
00:15:35.519 --> 00:15:52.399
I realize that that when I had all this frantic overachiever energy, all this wanting to save the world, save everyone, help everyone, pushing, filling every moment, proving my worth through motion, that no longer works for me.
00:15:52.960 --> 00:15:59.039
Every real breakthrough I experience now comes in the pause, not in the rush.
00:16:00.240 --> 00:16:01.519
This is so important.
00:16:01.679 --> 00:16:07.519
When you slow down, you get to really know yourself, and you naturally become undeniable.
00:16:07.759 --> 00:16:10.960
Which brings me to the last life rule of today.
00:16:11.120 --> 00:16:14.000
And I know I had many, but I narrowed it down.
00:16:14.320 --> 00:16:16.799
And that rule was be undeniable.
00:16:16.960 --> 00:16:29.360
I have done film markets, I've done pitch meetings, I've tried to expand new businesses, I tried to help other people's businesses and endeavors.
00:16:29.600 --> 00:16:36.480
And every time one answer would always come to me that would point out to a yes, and that would be be undeniable.
00:16:36.720 --> 00:16:47.360
This year I kept asking myself, what is the single most important world that summarizes a project, a brand, an endeavor, maybe even a life?
00:16:48.480 --> 00:16:55.440
And I noticed that the no's come to us with multiple reasons, multiple.
00:16:55.919 --> 00:17:06.240
How many of you can list all the no's that you got and all the excuses about what those no's are and why they exist?
00:17:06.480 --> 00:17:08.400
Some are valid, some are not.
00:17:09.119 --> 00:17:18.480
But the yes, the door opening, the deals closing, the attention, the respect all come down to one thing, and that is undeniable.
00:17:19.920 --> 00:17:23.119
To me, that means being seen as a short thing.
00:17:24.160 --> 00:17:27.200
Not perfect, not finished, real.
00:17:29.039 --> 00:17:31.680
Like the potential has already been activated.
00:17:32.240 --> 00:17:38.559
And it's really about the details, it's about frequency, consistency, timing.
00:17:39.119 --> 00:17:46.640
So I'll leave you with that question what would make your dreams, your goals, your actions undeniable?
00:17:46.960 --> 00:17:51.759
Because when something is undeniable, the yes becomes inevitable.
00:17:52.480 --> 00:18:01.440
So before I close, and this is the last episode of the season, and I'm announcing you is probably the last episode for a little bit of time.
00:18:01.680 --> 00:18:06.240
I want to acknowledge a few of the voices from this past season that really stayed with me.
00:18:06.559 --> 00:18:10.799
The co-chair of NIA, the National Italian-American Foundation.
00:18:11.039 --> 00:18:19.119
The conversation with John Cavalli reminded me what it looks like to build something in service of a purpose bigger than yourself.
00:18:27.519 --> 00:18:34.960
Because he's a powerful reminder of what happens when you bet on yourself and move with conviction.
00:18:35.200 --> 00:18:48.640
Even the women of the modern-day wife brand that I have been a proud sponsor of for quite a few seasons now, they keep showing what's possible because they really truly understood the audience and building through innovation and community.
00:18:48.880 --> 00:18:59.680
So, with that said, and there's so many more that I'd like to shout out, but those come to mind as they represent a lot of the changes and a lot of the things that I'm looking forward to in 2026.
00:19:00.079 --> 00:19:08.240
I am stepping into a short intentional pause on this podcast to write, to refine, to recalibrate.
00:19:08.400 --> 00:19:10.799
Um, what comes next?
00:19:11.200 --> 00:19:13.119
You know, there's so much coming next.
00:19:13.200 --> 00:19:19.200
And I'm continuing to work privately with a small group of aligned clients and partners.
00:19:19.440 --> 00:19:22.319
This is not a goodbye, it's a recalibration.
00:19:22.559 --> 00:19:36.880
My hope is that this reflection invites you to pause as well and listen to what your brand, your mission, your story, your work, your life have been telling in this past year so that they can be a compass for the year ahead.
00:19:37.279 --> 00:19:40.559
And yes, this is not the end of my podcast.
00:19:40.720 --> 00:19:45.200
There will be lots coming in 2026, but it will be a little bit different.
00:19:45.279 --> 00:19:50.240
